Homemade Beauty | All purpose, All Natural Sugar Scrub

If you have oily skin, if you have dry skin, if you are trying to whiten your armpits area, if you have dry and discolored elbows and knees or if you just want to exfoliate before using a self-tanner, this is the perfect scrub for you! :)

However, I would not recommend this scrub to people with sensitive skin because it might get irritated and it might be too harsh on the skin

Why these exact products (you may ask)?
  • Honey is rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, which are wonderful beauty aids that nourish the skin.
  • Citric acid contained in lemon juice exfoliates your skin, which is essential to speed up the treatment of acne. It also allows you dry the pimples as it acts as an astringent. Being a skin whitener, it eventually diminishes the redness of your pimples naturally. You may also apply lemon juice to acne scars in order to encourage their swift healing and temporary bleaching.
  • Sugar is alpha-hydroxy rich and gives you glowing skin. It's great for exfoliating and deep cleansing. Sugar scrubs promote healthier more uniformly colored and textured skin. Mixed with the right ingredients it hydrates the skin without clogging pores.
  • The vitamin E in olive oil is an antioxidant. In addition, mono-unsaturated fatty acids are less easily damaged by oxygen than other types of fat. They are therefore less likely to produce free radicals, which damage cell membranes and contribute to several diseases. It does not clog pores and is ideal for dry and even oily skin. This is the perfect natural moisturizer. Warm olive oil applied to the skin and help relieve internal or external inflammation caused by an injury or disease. Also helps grow strong and healthy nails!
 What you will need:
  • 2/3 table spoons of pure honey
  • 3 table spoons of olive oil (depending on your skin type)
  • 1 1/2 table spoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups of  white sugar (I suggest you use white sugar since its more gentle to the skin rather than brown sugar)
  • something to store it in (I used an empty baby food jar)

Step 1:
Get your jar ready

Step 2:
Pour in the olive oil and the honey in.

Step 3:
Add the lemon juice

Step 4:
Add in the 2 cups of sugar

Step 5:
Mix everything together.
At fist you will see 4 different layers but all you need to do is mix! If you feel that the scrub is too watery feel free to add more sugar.

Step 6:

Enjoy your new homemade all natural scrub! :) Your face will feel nourished and deeply cleaned. It might get a little bit red but don't worry that is the effect from the lemon juice! Just rub an ice cube if you feel the need. Pat dry and put your night creme or favorite moisturizer or body lotion.

I use this when i'm in the shower because it can get a bit messy, especially if you grab too much! My suggestion is to use it once a week to deeply exfoliate the skin. Another suggestion is to use it at night. This will help the skin to absorb all the benefits from the scrub while you are getting your beauty sleep! You can store it in the fridge but then you will have to wait a bit for the honey to melt. I just keep it in my shower. Store this for no longer than 3 weeks

P.S. I've been using this scrub for the past two weeks now and I must say my scars are little less visible. I also use it for my armpits and I no longer have that dry feel from using deodorants.

Do you love making your own remedies? If so, which is your favorite?
I would love to know!

Stay Fabulous!

I usually mix sigar with Vaseline as the smell (and taste) of olive oil makes me sick (I have no idea why), but I will try it with honey and lemon juice. Thanks (:
